 Who was Carter Braxton?

Carter Braxton was an American Statesman from Virginia. He supported the 1765 Virginia resolutions against the Stamp Act, was a delegate to the Continental Congress from 1775 to 1776 and signed the Declaration of Independence.

In 1919, when the Carter Braxton Chapter was organized, four of the organizing members were descendants of Carter Braxton: Mary Addison Page Stiles, Matilda Page S. Haydon, Dorothy Stiles Balderston, and Nannie Tyler Page Pierce.
